In response to our client’s request, we traveled to Gibraltar to conduct a detailed inspection of the floating hotel’s cathodic protection system and the adjacent docks.
Measurements confirmed that the hotel has adequate corrosion protection. However, upon evaluating the port and starboard docks, we discovered that both have separate rectifiers, which required specific verification of each.

System Diagnostics:
- The starboard rectifier was operating correctly, according to measurements on the dock pilings.
- The port rectifier, on the other hand, showed a potential of -0.600 mV, indicating a lack of protection.
Additional measurements confirmed the lack of protection on the port dock, and an inspection of the rectifier revealed that the cause was a cut in the positive cable connecting to the anodes, preventing its proper operation.

Proposed Solution:
To restore operational capacity and ensure optimal protection of the infrastructure, we proposed repairing the damaged cable. This action ensures the continuity of the cathodic protection system, extending the structure’s lifespan and preventing corrosion damage.
